The National Council of Cultural Heritage approved at its latest meeting on December 19, 2025, the Conservation Plan for the Bylis-Klos Archaeological Park, a strategic document and one of the most important for the management of an archaeological park in Albania.
This plan represents a significant step toward the preservation and enhancement of Bylis’ cultural heritage, providing clear guidance for managing the conservation conditions of the monuments and promoting sustainable visitor access.
The preparation of the plan involved contributions from renowned Italian and Albanian experts, as well as specialists from the Institute of Culture and Cultural Heritage (IKTK). The process included detailed documentation, consultations with field experts, and close collaboration with the local community to ensure that the plan reflects the specific needs and characteristics of the area.
The conservation planning also encompasses other strategic elements, including risk management from natural factors, visitor management, the development of educational and awareness-raising activities for the public, and the creation of an inter-institutional collaboration model for the monitoring and maintenance of the monuments.
